Petite cargo pants are proper fitting cargo pants for the shorter lady. Ordinary length cargo pants need to be altered and the length taken up to make them fit. They also tend to be quite long from the waist to the gusset which makes them come up too high on the waist. Petite cargo pants are designed and cut to be worn by the shorter and they have a shorter length between the waist and gusset and shorter legs. The proportions are different.
Choosing a pair of cargo pants from the ordinary ladies range is not the same thing and you will certainly find that they do not look as good as properly tailored petite cargo pants do.
Walmart sells a range of petite cargo pants made in organic cotton. These come in a range of colours and have lots of pockets so that you have room to carry everything you want with you when out walking or hiking, for example. The beauty of cargo pants is that you can wear them as full length pants, or roll them up to three quarter, or half length. Petite cargo pants are certainly very versatile and easy to care for.
The Walmart ones from the Faded Glory range are the simplest because all you have to do is to throw them into the washing machine, shake them and hang them up to dry. They only need a minimum of ironing too, so you might well be able to get away without even getting the iron out of the cupboard. That depends on where you are wearing them of course. Walmart probably has the lowest priced petite cargo pants you will find anywhere. They are priced as low as $15 for all sizes in most of the Walmart stores.
Petite cargo pants can also look good if you are going to town and you wear them with a smart jacket or a shirt. The fact that they are made of cotton means that they are comfortable to wear in summer when it’s hot and in the cooler weather.
The only problem with these petite cargo pants is that because they are made of cotton, the darker dye colours like blue, black and green need to be washed on their own because the colours often run. This is usually the case with cheaper brands but may happen with more expensive ones too. It is a good idea to wash these alone at first to see what happens with the dye.
Chadwicks sell a petite cargo pants set made of a kind of sweatshirt fabric. You get a button up jacket with long sleeves and pockets on the front and pants that pull on. The pants have pockets with safety zip fasteners and the pants have a tab on each leg which can be fastened up to pull the legs of the pants up to three quarter length, or undone to wear them full length. So you get cropped pants and full length ones altogether.
